Is it always good thing to know your limitations? Lee Smolin — The Trouble with Physics: The Rise of String Theory, the Fall of a Science, and What Comes Next — Mariner Books, 2006, 392 pp. This one of those very rare books, books that make you truly smarter and more knowledgeable that when you started. In his earlier work, The Trouble with Physics (2006), Smolin credited Unger with helping him to see the potentially profound implications of temporality as an irreducible feature of the universe. Over at Scientific American, Samuel McNerney writes about the dangers of learning about common human cognitive biases. In 2006 we also praised Mr Smolin's book "The Trouble with Physics”, describing it as a pleasurable account of "how science is really done". First of all, Lee reveals his intense hostility against all of modern physics, not just string theory. I know I am arriving a bit late to this game; I only got hand of the book after returning from from Canada, and I have been very busy these weks since then. And, I enjoy the Science vs Religion debates, especially those that cast Science as a Religion. Superstring theory has always both intrigued and bothered me.
